This little box is pretty terrific. I've made my own light boxes, and they were... adequate. This one folds flat when not in use, is made of a sturdy plastic, and comes with a black and white foam backdrop to get you started. The top opens for photos or light, and the two USB lightbars can be dimmed independently. The magnetic sides hold together when it's in use, and it folds up nice and flat for storage. They're pretty bright, and I'll probably use some muslin cloth as a diffuser for them once I get some. Because the lights are magnetic, you can place them anywhere in the box depending on the subject.
Is it a professional lightbox? No. If you're going to use a lightbox every day, you're going to have higher quality lights and probably something a bit larger and more permanent. But this is fantastic for someone like me who occasionally takes photos of devices to sell on swappa and wants the items to look their best. It would probably look even better with a proper DSLR instead of the iphone I used to take some example photos - my charger is missing for mine but when I track it down I'll add some more photos. But even the photos taken with my iphone came out looking great.
Great buy for the amateur photographer or hobbyist who wants to get started with light box photography.
A light box is sure useful for some product images to share reviews online or just in general, if you want a nice product image, it's the way to go with this light box.
Some of the pros I like for this light box: It's really bright; It has adjustable light; It's pretty easy to set up; Somewhat compact, most likely can fit inside a backpack.
Some stuff I consider as cons: The LED strip can get pretty hot with extensive use (20+ minute); The magnets can be stronger, as one of the side flaps aren't sticking well enough to support, so I have a slightly slanted light box; If you want to use both LED strips, you will need 2 USB ports, which can be inconvenient for some, as I powered mine using 2 power banks because of the 2 port requirement.
Other than that, it's a great light box overall, excellent value, and definitely useful for those who want some good looking product shots for selling things online, putting reviews, or anything you feel light shooting in the light box with.
I am a professional photographer who also has taught a few classes. Students always ask me what I recommend for an inexpensive way to photograph small items. There are DIY methods (like taking a Chinese takeout box and adding a LED light strip), and then there are inexpensive products like this one that do the job well.
PROS - Inexpensive - Small and portable - Multiple backdrops included (White, Black, Blue, and Green) - Daylight-tuned, white LED light strip that's USB powered (cable is included) - Foldable and secured with reusable velcro - Accommodates up to 8" x 8" x 8" items
CONS - Can be considered pricey for those who like to make their own light box
TIPS - Do not exceed 5V/1A of power, or you could cause damage to the LED strip.
This is a nicely packaged lightbox for use with small product photography that is portable and does not cost a fortune. Use it to make a small fortune instead.
I'm not going to lie, I'm becoming a Zecti fanboy.
This photo box delivers the goods quickly and in a very affordable way. The box itself is made out of a surprisingly thick plastic and supports itself with magnet. The included LED strips (two of them!) are bright, and a very nice neutral tone. They are also dimmable. The whole kit is super light weight, and since the 2 LED strips are powered via USB, the whole thing will run off a power bank making it extremely portable. The inclusion of both black and white backdrops is great inclusion too. I have only two complaints. First is with the box itself. the method it employs to hold itself upright is with magnets, which is nice. But because there is nothing supporting it the whole thing bends inward, eating away at the usable space inside. Second is with the black backdrop specifically. Its a foam almost neoprene feeling material. Its nice and evenly colored, but picks up streaks almost as if it the fabric was being rubbed against its own grain, this is visible in the pictures i have included. This came about with only mild handling. Its a minor complaint, and likely will not affect the white backdrop, but something to think about before taking pictures. Make sure to eliminate the streaks first.
TL;DR Version: Pros: -Super compact. -Super lightweight -LEDs are BRIGHT and there are two in the pack. -LEDs are USB powered meaning a portable charging bank for cell phones works great. -MAGNETS!
Cons: -Lack of structural support at the attachment points creates an inward bulge (this might go away with time) -Black backdrop gets streaky when touched.
Small and lightweight! Perfect to bring it with. Compact box with a quick setup time, it also folds up easily. Pictures produced from this light box look professionally done.
Neat little showcase box to setup nice pictures of small objects. The lighting sticks are super bright with various level setting to achieve the perfect condition. Not bad for the price although it seems bigger on picture.....Please see my samples
Es un poco frágil pero cumple bien con su propósito, la verdad no necesitas más. Las luces son "dimeables" para controlar la intensidad de la luz.
