I have a Manfrotto 502 video head that I use for all my video shoots. Recently I am getting more gigs for in the field almost run and gun shoots and the 502 is just too large to take out of the studio on a regular basis so I was on the hunt for a smaller video head but I wanted it to have the same or similar quality to my Manfrotto 502. This is when I came across the Kingjoy VT-3510. I was skeptical because of the inexpensive price but thought I would give it a try after seeing the positive reviews.

It is a bit smaller than the 502 with a 60mm base vs the 75mm of the Manfrotto. One thing I noticed right away which again surprised me for the price of this head was that it seemed to be made from high quality materials. There isn’t a ton of plastic here and in fact the body is all aluminum. It uses the same mounting plate as my Manfrotto which was another big plus for me as I didn’t need to go out and purchase new mounting plates. I could simply use my existing Manfrotto ones.

Since this head was a little lighter than my Manfrotto I tried it out on my Manfrotto monopod. I am happy to report again that it works perfectly. This makes run and gun shoots where I just have my monopod so much easier to get around with. Since that works well I tried it out on my slider. Now stability is of utmost importance in this setup. If the head doesn’t lock down pretty much perfectly then I will see shakiness when the slider moves as I experienced with some other cheaper tripod heads. The Kingjoy locked down well. There was no slop even with my full frame rig and everything shot with the slider was perfectly smooth with no shake.

The rig I use for field work comes in around 7lbs and this head handled it with no problem at all. I believe the max load is 11lbs for this head. It easily handles both my micro four thirds rig as well as my full frame rig which I do take to the field occasionally.

Most important to me was how smooth the pans and tilts would be with this head. I am happy to report it is VERY smooth. The fluid dampening works very well.

The Kingjoy head has almost exactly the same controls as my Manfrotto so if you are familiar with those heads you will be right at home with this one.

If you need a good fluid video tripod head and don’t want to spend the $100+ (or much much more) I think the Kingjoy VT-3510 is a fantastic buy and I have no reservations recommending this head.

I looked at Manfrotto fluid ball heads for video and panning work, but wasn't ready to plunk down $100-$400 for a fluid ball head from them. I thought that there had to be a cheaper, and hopefully better, alternative. Sure enough, I found this one, after a lot of research, and so far, I am not regretting the purchase. It works GREAT! Sturdy, solidly built, inexpensive (I won't say "cheap" because it looks and feels far more expensive!), and the pitch and yaw controls to dampen the speed of pan are SUPER easy to use, and the large wing nut holders (to lock pitch or yaw angles) are great to work with, too! I am using a Nikon D7100 with a heavy Sigma f3.5 10-20mm lens on it with a polarizer filter, so it's quite heavy. Heavier than my other lenses, even my 70-300 zoom! It held this combi very well, and adjustments on the fly are done with ease, precision and speed. So far, a great buy! It's a big head, (not a huge one, though, comparable to the similar Manfrotto) so I am using an old tripod bag that can handle carrying it, so that I don't have to take down and set up every time I want to use it. The head area around the connecting screw on my Victiv tripod was a bit small, so I did get an adapter plate/screw from Manfrotto, and that is holding the head very well onto this tripod. So a cheap work around, as I needed: 1). fluid ball head, and 2). a tripod that can reach up to 70+ inches in height. Nothing on the market for under $100, (that wasn't crap, like the Bower tripod I got earlier) so I made myself one with these two products!

Highly recommend!

I think this is a great budget fluid head. It's not perfectly fluid in every situation, but for most of us it's going to get the job done every time.

Simply to use. Attaches quickly and works with no learning curve at all.

Excellent tripod head. I have a Manfrotto fluid head that I paid over $200 and this head works just as good. I've used these heads for a few years and usually they last about 1-2 years before they start losing there smoothness. I move them a lot from event to event cause I shoot weddings so that might impact it but That's the only difference I've noticed between the more expensive ones. Really great buy for starters. But you have to make sure you get the right thread. The bottom of the tripod head has to fit the top of your tripod.

I didn't want to spend a small fortune and tried several other alternatives but this was far superior to others around same price. A solid metal build provides the weight need for stability. Only minor criticism pertains to the lateral swivel restriction, which doesn't allow for an effective range of adjustment as does vertical. Lateral is a little "bumpy" any would be best to have effective drag for movement control. This is still better than 5 others sampled.

Shipping was fast from the seller. I swapped out my current tripod head for this one to shoot video and it worked way better than I expected! It moves smoothly and provides great support for my DSLR. It was much more affordable than having to buy a new tripod!

It's really hard to say anything is perfect but this king joy Vt-3510 comes pretty close. It truly gives you quality precision controls and ultimate stability while using a camera or smartphone of your choice. Skip the $300 manfrotto or the other brands this beast will leave nobody unsatisfied.
