UPDATE: April 22nd, 2020.

Originally I wrote "The only reason that I didn't give this tripod 5 stars is because I haven't used it outdoors yet. Indoors It's been great. Quick setups, stability is great and I can relocate quickly. For the money, it's a great buy."

Well now I can say after using it outdoors a few times, one leg has gone from (seemingly) being permanently locked in place to not being able to stay put and the height adjustment ring is broken. It was a great quick option for a beginner for whom photography is a hobby. Now that I'm growing my skill, it's trash. I lost one in Orlando's airport and the security/lost and found never responded to my attempts at contacting them, so instead of taking that as an omen, I got this one. Time to invest in higher quality and durability as what's left of this will probably be reserved for table top photos of food AT BEST.

Initially I bought a flexible tripod for a Roku projector. It took a lot of adjusting. A lot. So, I decided to purchase a real tripod. The cost difference was $4. I thought a nice tripod would cost a lot more.

Arrived well packaged and intact. No assembly. No instructions needed. Looks very nice and professional. Appears to be well built and sturdy. It comes with two attachment plates that fit into the bottom of cameras (one already attached to tripod, second in box).

I had my Roku attached in less than a minute. Adjustments, including leveling are super easy. It took less than 3 minutes from opening the box til I was watching TV. Height adjustment is by flip levers, not screws. Mounting plate is fixed by a screw knob. There is a handle lever also for adjustment. No brains operation.

Very pleased with this purchase.

I needed a second tripod so I purchased a Targus from Walmart and the quality was very poor. It was flimsy and unstable. None of the locking mechanisms worked. I was holding it together with duct tape. When I say not one part of the tripod worked properly, I am not exaggerating.

So, I ordered another Sunpak from Amazon. The quality is consistent with the first unit. For the price, this is a very well built tripod. I am very pleased with both Sunpaks. If you need a well built tripod that has most of the bells and whistles for a cheap price, the Sunpak cannot be beat.

Important note: Sumpak customer service does not have a working phone number. I have not tried email.

You get what you pay for.
It's a pretty decent tripod, base head is not very stable when using with a DSLR ( I have a nikon d600 + lens, seems to be a bit too heavy for this )
After using this a few times, the plastic mount that allows the dslr to pivot 90 degree ( to go to portrait mode from landscape ) broke. The knob itself, no way of fixing it. Broke on the job, it became very unsteady and useless. I would recommend something a bit more sturdy and not made of plastic for a DSLR + heavy lens.

This is a nice sturdy tripod that would do well as a travel tripod for a mirrorless or smaller DSLR camera. Unfortunately I was looking for a very lightweight model for my smartphone and this wasn’t it. The Sunpak was just a few inches too long and too heavy for my needs. (Ultimately I settled for a product that was two-thirds the cost, and maybe only half as well-built. C’est la vie.)

These are better than the Amazon basic and others in this price range and below, thicker legs and better fit on all parts, I don't think they're great, but for small blogging cameras and action cams or microphones they are perfect, so buy 2 or 3 for your setup as accessory stands

Decent tripod for the price. I bought several of these to hold up interior security cameras so they will not get stowed/deployed a lot. This tripod has a relatively small footprint, so mounting a camera that easily outweighs the tripod it is mounted to is a bit unnerving. I think the four pound capacity is a bit optimistic, but YMMV. It is definitely not as stable as my larger Velbon, but my Velbon easily cost multiple times more.

I don't know how well this tripod will hold up if carried around as part of a photography payload. The construction seems durable, and the operation is simple. A perk is the extra detachable camera baseplate so if you're using it with two cameras, you don't have to fuss with swapping the quick-release baseplate.

Overall money well-spent, and I'm optimistic it will fulfill my needs.

Buen producto
