Ellie is a new evolution of universal L-Bracket, bringing users increased compatibility with a wider range of cameras, and advanced functionality. L-Brackets are primarily used to switch from landscape to portrait on a tripod whilst maintaining the focal plane and horizon. Ellie PD is specifically designed to work with Peak Design's Capture Clip system*. It features a standard Arca Swiss compatible footing that clips securely into the Capture.
*Peak Design Capture v3 only
Compatible with standard Arca-Swiss clamps, Ellie features two different 2 screw mount slots in the base. This allows users to position the L-Bracket in the optimal position for their camera. The length of the bracket base can be adjusted thanks to two rigid stainless steel sliding bars which are then fixed into position by the user with the supplied tool. The rear edge of the base is sloped to better enable screen access. Ellie’s vertical aspect has an opening in one side, allowing users with L-shaped cable pins to connect accessories. This opening can be placed in one of four positions by inverting or reversing the vertical aspect.

I really wanted to like this product but found that the “universal” feature is hypothetically correct, but not practically as it is not functional unless you want to give up potential camera features.
After trying a couple different L brackets on my Canon eos 6D, this one was as close as I was going to get. I paid a little extra to get this version so it will fit in the peak design system. The only complaints I have are the top notch is too low to slide over the strap hook on the side of the camera so it does not fit flush(see photo). And the access hole on the side for the flaps is wide enough but the open section for the cable release is not aligned properly for this particular camera. I had to take a sawzall and cut about a quarter of an inch off so that the cable release could plug in while this was on. See attached photo. Other than that, this thing works great.
I shoot with a Canon 6DMKII DSLR camera and due to Canon's design of putting the remote control cable on the side of the camera where a standard L-bracket covers it up. This makes inserting the control cable hard to plugin. However, with this 3 Legged Thing it's easy to adjust the space between the bracket and the side of the camera. I'm happy with this item and recommend it.
Used this on the EOS R and one thing I would account for is a fully articulated screen. This interferes a little with the swivel and can only angle in some directions. The L portion of the bracket could use some a refresh to accommodate cameras with screens like that. Otherwise, this works great with the peak design travel tripod and mt mefoto tripod.
Well designed and made. Works great with Peak’s new tripod.
Very nice product; fit my Nikon D7200 very well; unfortunately does not fit with my Manfroto tripod. Wish it did. Returning...
Omg. Buy this. 10 out of 10. Expensive but worth it.
I owned a 3 Legged Thing tripod and I feel this is a very good brand. The L-bracket is very useful and something I've been missing for a long time. Excellent quality from a brand I trusted. It's just quite expensive for this thing. My ideal price point for this would be around $80. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
