About the Product:
SmallRig Aluminum NATO Side Handle HSN2427 is designed to provide a comfortable handheld shooting for cameramen. A built-in hex on the bottom can be used to adjust the handle up and down based on your needs
Filmmakers always use different devices, so they always changes the position the handles according various scienors.
To maximize the usage of the nato side handle, we design that the handle can be used at both right one and left one. If you want to use it on the other side of the cage, just take off the connection part of handle and change the direction.
Consider that the center of gravity of device ranges a lot, it is problematic to adjust the position of the side handle once you add or remove your devices.
But you won’t be worried since our handle bar can be adjusted up and down based on your needs.
With the built-in hex spanner, it is easy for you to tight the thumb screw.
With built-in cold shoe mount on the top of the handle, you could attach microphone, led flash, magic arm without purchasing another cold shoe adapter.
Even the narrow space on the top of the handle, we still provide a three 1/4” threaded holes. You could use them according to your imagination, such as connect a magic arm 2070, then a LCD monitor.
The connection method (lock with standard nato clamp) broadens its use and provide the cameraman with more filmmaking possibilities. It fits any cage featuring built-in nato rail. And it is can be quickly removed from cage.

I have used this on my EOS RP cage and my A6600 cage. This is awesome for any camera, but I really find it useful for lightweight cameras that are lens/front heavy. Constantly gripping a camera with your right hand requires you to keep your wrist in a turned position to keep the camera upright and level. These grips (I also own a wooden handle grip), really compensate for about 50% of the weight. Not only does it save your wrist but I also notice a significant increase in my ability to stabilize my camera. This is because I'm not trying to balance a 6-10 pound camera with one hand. These grips are life savers for stills or video. I can see it's appeal more for video but I think it's equally as good for stills. I can't recommend this product enough. This one has a more rubberized texture, whereas the wooden one is more slick, but it is a little more ergonomic than this one. Both are awesome.
I needed at hand grip for my Sony A6400 cage and this worked fantastically!
Bought this for my Gh5 rig, but unfortunately the two screws didn't fit the cage that I have on my camera. No matter how many places I tried it just wouldn't screw in. My mistake was assuming that these handles and rigs are universal. This particular grip doesn't fit onto the 88sin cage for the Gh5. It does however fit on my small rig cage, although I didn't buy it to use with that cage.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve had good experiences with small rig chassis and connectors. This handle was the entry level option compared to their wooden handles so I didn’t have high expectations. When I received it, I instanced felt the quality of the handle. Unless you want the wood feel, I’m not sure why you would look for anything more expensive?
So I thought I would save some weight and money if I went with this instead of the wooden handle but unfortunately I think it’s a bad call it looks really nice and I do like the adjustment ability but the ergonomics on the handle just isn’t there. The concept is there but it just feels awkward in the hand for a reference I am about a large in glove size and this item almost seems too big. A small rig was able to make the handle pivot forward just a little bit it might help with the comfort aspect as well.
I am a big Small rig fan! I live in mainland China and buy alot of rigging from various companies! Small Rig is comparable to the best, such as Tilta and other know quailty companies! The functionality and quality can always be expected. Love the constant new offerings!
The hand works great side mounted on my Canon EOS C200. Helps take the weight off my right wrist allowing me to handhold a heavier setup without wrist strain. I’d definitely recommend it.
It’s simple, maybe too slender for larger hands. Great for low weight setups but you’ll need more if you have any kind of weight. I ended up returning mine due to this.
