I bought 2 of these in 2 different sizes for my telephotos . The lenses are carried face down in a padded camera backpack and the cap slips sideways in the threads ( without dropping the case) and becomes wedged so tightly that i is very difficult to remove. Now for the bad part- I am currently traveling in south east Asia and in 1 week, the cap wedged in and broke the UV filters on both lenses, so now i have no protection for the lens glass on 2 expensive lenses. Not happy! Update-it gets worse, the broken filter glass put a nick in my lens glass. Upset!
I'm one of those people who can't seem to hang onto a lens cap, no matter how hard I try. Replacing those lost caps had become a bit pricey, but let's face it folks; those lenses of ours that cost up to thousands of dollars in some cases just need to be protected.
Wow, I've finally found the answer to the "Fuji Dilemma," a term I coined myself to describe what are arguably some of the nicest lenses on the market at nearly any price, but with lens caps that seem to be DETERMINED to fly off. Fly off when in your bag, fly off when suspended on a belt, and fly off even when you are trying to attach it! How could a company make such SUPERB lenses (and they truly are superb; they are like true Zeiss or Schneider lenses) and then use lens caps that REFUSE to stay attached? Fuji has FINALLY addressed this in their newer lenses, such as the XF 23mm F/2 and the XF 35 F/2, but many Fuji owners have a collection of Fuji lenses that seem to have springs mounted under their lens caps!
I for years never carried an extra lens cap in my bag until one day the OEM lens cap dropped and broke. I then went and bought an OEM lens cap to replace my broken one. After a little while I decided I would buy one lens cap for each lens millimeter I own [77,67,62]. After researching on Amazon I came across Breakthrough Photography and there 77mm lens cap. The price of $7 for the 77mm was outstanding compared to Nikon's version witch was $23. When I received my Breakthrough Photography 77mm I was totally impressed by it. It was as good as any OEM cap I have. Now for the over the top part was the packaging of the cap it came in a tough plastic zip lock bag with a lens cloth. This packaging witch was MUCH better then my OEM brands is well protected in my camera bag. After the initial buy I also ordered a 62mm cap and it also was exactly built and packaged like the 77mm. In the future when I need replacements Breakthrough Photography has all my business.
Good for the Sony 24-70mm
