My ROKU was defective right out of the box. The provided USB cable was broken on one end obviously damaged by the prior owner forcing me to buy my own. The unit loaded fine up to the update screen and then completely locked-up. This unit was obviously neither inspected or checked before it was re-packaged and sold as refurbished.

It made my non-smart tv into a Roku TV! I wanted this exact model (express+) because it has TV power and volume controls. Don't need an extra remote for that this way. I expected the remote to be infrared in order to do this, but was surprised that it is not. It is RF and works when pointed in any direction; even another room. The TV is controlled via HDMI-CEC. This requires a "fairly" modern TV. Mine is 8 years old and has it. If it doesn't have the CEC capability then you would need the tv remote for power and volume. This was a refurbished product and it works and looks like new. I'm very pleased with it.

Usually I don't mind purchasing refurbished items. But this one was not reset to factory standards before being shipped. I could not change the language settings and therefore could not set it up properly. I would not purchase another refurbished item from this vendor again.

I had to wonder if this was a reject or secretly refurbished item. The power button stopped working, then some of the other buttons have become harder to use, requiring several pushes. I've only had it for a short time. My last one, bought at a brick and mortar store, had no such issues.

this actual unit has an issue i usually have to hit the power button more then once to get it to turn on menu opions... the tv comes right on but the the screen stays blank and i try hitting menu but usually have to turn it off and back on

Does what it's supposed to do. Very smooth streaming once you pick your channels.

These are wayyyyyyy better than being raped every month by comcast
