Being from the future, all of my equipment uses USB 53.0-Glerb. This cable was only backwards compatible with USB 41.5 and below; only my hydrothermic antineuron transhibitor uses that protocol. Thankfully, that won't be a problem for anyone else for quite some time, but for me, waiting for USB 7 (which is the earliest that's compatable with my USB 53.0-Glerb devices) will sure make the next 41 years kind of exhausting. |
I bought the 9ft version and used the cable for the first time today. I thought my drive was failing because it kept disconnecting while I was editing a project, causing all my media to go offline. I switched cables and the problem went away. I switched back to the Amazon Basic cable and the problem came back. That was on my Windows desktop. I tried again with my Apple laptop and the same thing happened. The drive would unmount with the Amazon cable and worked fine as soon as I switched to another cable. |
I bought this USB-B cable to restore touch screen functionality to an Acer T232HL monitor my uncle gave me, and also to give power to the three USB ports on the left side of it. Until I got said monitor, I had no idea this type of connection even existed until I looked at the ports. |
I had a powered USB 3.0 hub I wanted to move to the other side of my desk. The USB cord it came with was maybe 2 feet at the most. This seemed like the perfect solution to my issue. |
This cable has worked perfectly for me. I have a dock I use for my laptop so that I only have to use one cable to connect to my work station at home. The dock has the following connections: 2 HDMI, 3 USB 3.0 (SS), 2 USB 2.0, Display port, Gigabit Ethernet port, headphone jack, and audio output. When I moved across the country (Chicago to California), I had a different home office setup, and the OEM cable was way too short to fit my needs. So I ordered the cable, and so far it works perfectly. All I need is one cable and I have my hard drives, additional monitors, and ethernet connection running smoothly. I can just unplug when I need to leave the house and reconnect when I come home. And this cable handles everything, PLUS it's longer than the cable that came with OEM and has made my life so much easier. And that's not just an overstatement, it has literally made my life easier. |
Bought four of these. One of them stopped working after two years. How does a USB cable stop working? There was a little (and I do mean a little) tension on one connector due to a tight fit, but nowhere near the abuse I have put other cables through. I guess for $4 I can't complain too much, but seems like a USB cable should last a lot longer than the lifetime of the protocol version for which it was designed. On the plus side I didn't have to replace my scanner. I was close to giving up and then the last thing I thought to troubleshoot was the cable. Very odd. |
Had one cable fail out-right. Had 2 other peripheral devices using similar Amazon cables become unstable until cable was replaced with other mfgs cable. Instability vanished. |
These cables are excellent. I have to say I am very impressed by Amazon's stuff overall and in particular all of the cables/wire I have purchased from them. I am kind the kind of guy who has an entire large bin full of cables and wire in my closet. Literally dozens and dozens of cables ranging from old school analog audio and video to modern day display port, HDMIs, CAT6, USB, you name it. They also range from one end of the spectrum to the other in terms of quality, some I have are total junk and have never been used, others are very high end and were very expensive. Amazon Basics cables are really excellent for the money. I wouldn't put them in the highest tier of build quality but they are more than good enough. You won't be disappointed with any of their cables. |
I'd purchased the AmazonBasics USB 3.0 A to B Cable as a replacement that came with my Dell U2515H monitor to connect the built in USB 3 Hub. It worked perfectly fine, I use all the 5 USB 3.0 available ports on the monitors hub. There's a dedicated port for charging my phones a fast charge, and data speeds are the same as expected using the original cable which include 1 x external SSD, 2 USB Pen Drives, a web camera and Platronics headset. |
It doesn't work with devices that use a lot of power or data. E.g. USB 3.0 hub that also charges or powered USB3 hard drive. Tried this and the USB extender cable (separately) instead of my short USB 3 A-B cable. Read online that some devices don't function with cables over a certain length no matter how good the quality is. The bad thing is now my port on the computer doesn't work even with the previous short cables. So not sure what happened, but I swapped my short cable for this one and it didn't work, returned to just using my own short cable and it no longer worked in that port at all. |
We have a dual monitor set up at work, the two monitor are connected to some kind of box using USB - I got this to connect my work laptop to this box whenever I go in for meetings, this work, I get dual/triple screen function when using this. The cable is thick, look to be well shielded and the connector look solid. I have been using this for 6-8 months now and happy with the purchase |
Brilliant cable, using it with my MacBook Air to connect an Aukey 7 port powered USB 3 hub which has several hard drives connected and there is no loss of speed at all! Works just as well as the cable that was originally supplied with the hub, and overall it's a great cheap cable that does the job! |
This is one of many AmazonBasics products that I've bought over the years. Their products are always well made and great value for money and this cable is no exception. It came well packaged, has gold plated connectors and the cable itself feels like decent quality. No problems at all with my USB 3 devices. |
This is an unbiased review. |
This works so well. I have an external monitor with 4 USB ports that needed to be connected to my laptop in n order to work and it works like a dream. Fast and instant connection and everything is working just how it should. I wish I had bought a shorter cable but other than that i am really pleased with the quality and the function on this cable. |
Bought this to replace the USB 3.0 cable supplied with an LG BE14NS40 14 x USB 3.0 Desktop Blu-ray Rewriter with 3D Playback I bought nearly four years ago, when the existing cable eventually became unreliable following very heavy use. The LG works fine, and is now back to writing and playing Blu-rays and DVDs with its usual reliability. The new cable is slightly longer than the original, which means there is less physical strain on it than on the original cable and no twisting. Very happy with it. |
Bought this cable to replace a missing External HDD cable. Plugged into the Hard Drive and into computer and the drive was recognised instantly. 6 foot was longer than required but there was over a month wait for thew 3 foot cable and the extra 50 pence or so was well worth the next day delivery on this cable |
After a nasty drive corruption on my external USB 3.0 Orico box I thought the drive had gone faulty. The SMART read errors were mounting daily and alarmingly. It finally came down to the cable and I ordered this "basic" cable which is actually pretty good quality. The daily errors ceased immediately. It's therefore worth making sure that any USB 3 cable you put before any HDD is of good quality and bear in mind that if you do get the read errors or corruption it could just be that. I am surprised that my cable just went duff overnight, it doesn't get moved or kicked or damaged where it is so it's a bit of a lesson for me. |
I needed this cable for my AOC G2460PG monitor as it has USB ports on it but the required cable to hook those up wasn’t provided from the factory. |
Works fine to connect a hub - Anker® 60W 7-Port USB 3.0 Data Hub with 3 PowerIQ Charging Ports for iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, and More to my laptop. I have used all the ports at the same time and they all work perfectly and with no noticed loss of data transfer speed, I needed a longer cable to place my drives etc. was from my cluttered desk and this cable did the job. |
On the strength of the reviews here I purchased this (9ft, 2.27m) to connect to an external hard drive. I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality. As others have said, this cable is quite thick, the connectors look fine and appear quite strong, I doubt they'll break anytime soon. |
Worked exactly as expected. |
Got one of these to hook up my SP4 to a Kensington hub for a 2x monitor set-up - the cable work as described, build quality of the cable is superb, thick and durable looking. The cable is plugged and unplugged out of the dock constantly as I work out of the office regularly and so far, it's working great, and the price is superb. |
