Camera Hardware:
Pros:
Solid construction, nice optics, and easy installation. Great crisp and clear video. Difficult to believe they’re only 5MP, as the quality is surprising. Night vision works great too. IR doesn’t appear to attract as many spiders as other night vision cameras I’ve had experience with, but that might be because it’s winter, I’ll keep an eye out this spring. Audio is surprisingly clear and responsive.
Package included 4 rolls of 60m of CAT5 cable.

Cons:
Bulky ethernet protector and power connection, but seems pretty standard with most IP cameras. Made it difficult to mount due to the cumbersome attachments. Would be nice if one could plug straight into the mount. Minor issue with supplied ethernet cable, as the rubber clip protection couldn't fit through provided waterproof connection caps. I had to slice off the flexible rubber clip protection from the ethernet cable in order to have it fit through the supplied waterproof enclosure. Cameras do not support Face Capture, Behavior Analysis, or other additional features in the NVR software. Only the basics.

NVR & Software:
Pros:
Setup was quick and easy, and the little included USB mouse is a nice addition. One could use a mouse to “type” any needed characters for the setup.. Cameras all were detected quickly with zero issues. Setting up the network and user account was very simple and nearly effortless. Email motion sensed events work fine. Setup rather painlessly.

Cons:
From the web front end accessible from computers on the network is where things became increasingly frustrating. In all honesty, the software pretty terrible. In order to view any of the video feed, (live or recorded) one needs to install a “mystery” localservicecomponents.exe plugin that runs in the background of Windows. This plugin only works with Internet Explorer. I have not been able to get it to work with Firefox, Chrome, or Brave. On occasion the .exe has consumed 100% of my CPU, and I’ve had to restart my computer to get things working again. No native Linux browser support, as the software requires that .exe file to be running.

In the Live View page, one has to setup every camera to their preferred viewing port EACH visit. That means if you flip to another page, or feature within the NVR web interface, when you go back you have to establish every camera yet again. There is no “save” feature to keep your preferred viewing settings.

Setting up motion sensitivity and zones is a chore. One has to clear the entire grid and “draw” pixels of the locations for motion detection. Pixel selection sometimes glitches, and the entire window is selected. If that happens or if you make a mistake with one pixel out of place, there is no erase, back, undo, etc. You have to clear the entire grid, and start all over.

The camera sensitivity is established in five levels, 0-20-40-60-100. Even at 20% sensitivity, raindrops and bugs will trigger motion. It would be nice to have finer tuned control for motion sensitivity, or even have variable sensitivity for night/day settings.

There isn’t support for sound triggered events. Would be a very welcome feature to include events for loud noises.

In the recorded footage timeline, there currently isn’t a way to view or locate events like motion sensed events. I’ve seen similar software out there which appears to be made from the same makers on various YouTube tutorials, and it shows motion sensed events. When I contacted the supplier about this, they confirmed there currently is no option to locate or see motion sensed events, but they claim to be working on it. I’m hoping it’ll be featured in the next firmware release.

There are limitations to the NVR’s playback. When trying to replay synchronous playback of multiple cameras, the NVR can only handle 2 streams. Any more and the CPU cannot keep up, gets bogged down, and doesn’t display additional feeds. Often freezing the playback as a result.

Other thoughts:
The Android software I downloaded had issues at first, but after removing it and reinstalling, it worked just fine. I actually prefer it much more than the web interface UI over the network. However, it is only really good for live feed viewing and listening.

Summary, TLDR.
All in all, for the price this package came with a lot of bang for the buck. The hardware is impressive, and you get a solid setup for minimal effort if you’re comfortable running ethernet in or around your home. Image is crystal clear, and the setup is really easy to do yourself on a weekend.
The NVR and software leaves a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully the firmware evolves over time, but there’s a lot to “fix” in there for what I'd consider a bare minimum standard for a NVR system.
