In StockTamron has updated their legendary 90mm Macro lens with a new, state-of-the-art optical design. The lens, reborn for the age of digital photography, offers VC (Vibration Compensation) and USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive). Adopting a state-of-the-art optical design and a rounded diaphragm, this lens carries on the long tradition of Tamron's 90mm Macro lens in delivering spectacular blur effects. Two XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) glasses and one LD (Low Dispersion) element reduce chromatic aberrations, yielding sharp images and outstanding resolution. Tamron's newly developed eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating delivers a dramatic improvement in antireflection performance-significantly reducing flare and ghosting for clearer, crisper images. The VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization mechanism reduces camera shake to deliver sharp images. This lens also features USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) to power a speedy AF drive together with a continuous manual focus mechanism. It also incorporates IF (Internal Focus) system, which focuses by moving only the internal lens group, rather than the front lens elements. The overall length of the lens therefore does not change when focusing, thus ensuring a broad working distance. Moisture-resistant construction helps prevent moisture from penetrating the lens. Specifications: Focal Length 90mm, Maximum Aperture F/2.8, Angle of view (diagonal), 27°02′ (with full-size SLR cameras) 17°37′ (with APS-C sized sensor digital SLR cameras), Lens Construction 14 elements in 11 groups, Minimum Focus Distance 11.8in (0.3m), Maximum Magnification Ratio 1:1, Working Distance 5.5 in (139mm), Filter Size Ø58mm, Length 4.5 in (114.5mm), Entire Length 4.8 in (122.9mm), Diameter Ø76.48mm, Weight 19.4 oz. This is a great lens and it is nicely built, too. I bought it partly because of some enthusiastic comments I had read by other reviewers. Generally seen, I agree that this lens is producing very sharp and crisp pictures. I like it a lot for that reason. |
Notes: |
The Tamron 90mm VC is an exceptional lens. From what I read before first purchasing a Tamron 90mm, they have been long regarded as an excellent yet affordable macro lens. I haven't been disappointed with this product, and it has lived up to the acclaim. I use it for wildlife macro and wildlife portraits, and have been very pleased with the performance. |
I've been wanting a proper macro lens for a while now and after reading lots of reviews about this lens I decided to go for it although I did briefly consider the 60mm version since I am using a cropped sensor body. It great and takes great pictures. I've seen reviews online that state that the lens doesn't focus at f2.8 close up but i have to say that I haven't found this to be the case with the lens I have. The only slight issue I have with the lens, and it is only a slight issue, is with the weight of it. Its a good bit heavier than what I thought it would be and a lot heavier than my Sigma 70-300 zoom lens. this isn't a big problem though and not worth taking off a star. Definitely worth the money and the 5 stars I've given it. |
Nervous buying a used lens, needn’t have been. It was indeed like new, quickly delivered. This lens has the wow factor, I have the Canon 60 mm macro a nd this lens is on parr if not better. Not as heavy as it looks when on camera and a dream to use. The Sigma lens that is similar is more than twice the weight and as someone with problem hands this lens can be hand held in some situations like portraits. I would certainly recommend this lens and the company selling it |
I've used macro extension tubes previously on a Sigma 70-300 APO DG macro which I was impressed with, but the sharpness and resolution of this lens on my Sony A77 is exceptional. Very, very pleased with this purchase, and glad I chose this above the lower spec as the USD motor is silent and very quick - especially when using the focus limiter. Manual override is smooth and quite controllable. This lens is also very good for portraits and I'm considering ditching my Sony 50mm F1.8 SAM and using this - sharpness is excellent at F4 and F8. Note for Sony there is no VC option as the lens relies on Steadyshot in Alpha camera bodies. |
What can you say about Tamron macro lenses that hasn't been said before. They are great lenses, well made and sharp as tacks. I won't go into too much detail because anyone thinking of buying this lens should have gone into all the details and specs already, except that I love it that this lens has internal focussing, meaning no lens movement in and out, and, when using autofocus, the focus ring does not move either. All in all a perfect lens, well thought out and well made. |
Beautiful lens tac sharp not to heavy well balanced on my D7000,also a great portrait lens. This is a full frame lens so gives you a little extra on a crop sensor camera. |
You get what it says on the box, giid mud priced macro lens. Bit slow at focusing when contrast between subject and background is similar, but with the focus ring available to work manually in AF mode is a giid bonus. |
using the lens in a nikon d7000,, yes i know its not a full frame camera but i will upgrade later,, however,, the lens gives pin sharp pictures! |
Excellent lens for macro photography and portraits i use it all the time |
What a lens! its is my second macro on my digital Sony A77, and it is just incredible! as its a 90 mm you will need a steady hand for macro work, a tripod its recommended, its also a beautiful portrait lens, and its wide aperture is great. highly recommend. |
Superb! Fast focus and accurate even on the macro range and result very sharp photo. Loved it. |
my favourite lens. quick autofocus and low light performance. |
Great lens, well pleased |
Could not afford a Canon Macro lens but this is an absolutely superb alternative. |
Just one of the best macro lenses you can buy. Excellent product! |
