BIONZ image processor
The BIONZ image processor delivers the high resolution and fast performance you expect from a Sony digital camera.

Ultra-slim design
The DSC-T90 packs a lot of performance into an ultra-slim design. Measuring at just under 5/8 inch (15mm), the DSC-T90 is slim enough to slip into a pocket, so you can take it with you wherever you go.

Intelligent Auto Mode
Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode goes beyond traditional auto settings by recognizing and adjusting to scene conditions and lighting, enhancing natural skin tones, and reducing blur. By incorporating advanced features such as Intelligent Scene Recognition, Face Detection, and Optical SteadyShot, iAuto lets you take advantage of the latest Sony Cyber-shot technology without leaving auto mode. Whether you’re shooting expansive landscapes, capturing playground action, or taking pictures at a birthday party or wedding shower, iAuto will optimize your camera’s settings to help ensure you come away with a great shot.

HD Movie
Capture more of your memories in high definition (720p) video. Record HD movies in 720p high definition MPEG4 format allowing for stunning large-screen home movie playback. Record up to 29 minutes in 720p format (or up to 2GB) per movie.

Intelligent Scene Recognition
Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects eight different types of scenes and, within just 1/30th of a second, selects the appropriate camera settings: Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a Tripod, Portrait, Landscape, and Macro. iSCN has two modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advance Mode, the camera takes a photo with the standard automatic settings and, if in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with optimized setting so you can chose which to keep.

Face Detection technology
Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and controls flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to deliver accurate, natural skin tones with reduced red-eye. It can also give priority to children or adults. Newly added Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and accelerates the shutter speed when facial movement is detected, reducing blur in the subjects face.

Anti-blink Function
It's frustrating to think you've captured that perfect shot, only to review it later and discover one of your subjects blinked just as you pressed the shutter. The new Anti-blink function works to help counter blinking and squinting. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

Smile Shutter Technology
The popular Smile Shutter technology automatically detects and captures a smiling face. Simply activate by pressing the Smile Shutter button and the camera will capture a smile the moment it happens. You can also select subject priority (Adult or Child Priority or touch subject on screen) and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity to high (small smile), medium (laugh) or low (grin). Smile Shutter also makes a great substitute for the self timer. Just smile once everyone is ready, and the camera will automatically capture the shot.

Double Anti-blur Solution
The combination of Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and High ISO sensitivity helps compensate for camera shake, minimizes blur, and allows flash-free shooting to preserve the mood.

Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization Optical SteadyShot image stabilization uses a built-in gyro sensor to detect camera shake and automatically shifts the lens to help prevent blur without sacrificing image quality.

High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 3200)
High ISO allows for faster shutter speed, so you can take photos indoors or in low light without the need for a flash. In addition to High Sensitivity Mode (ISO), you can select up to eight ISO settings (Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200) when shooting in Program Auto Mode to adjust sensitivity to your shooting conditions.

Dynamic Range Optimizer Standard and Plus
Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) Standard and Plus uses a sophisticated algorithm to determine the best exposure and contrast settings for almost any shooting environment. The result is more natural images with clearer details that more closely match what your naked eye sees. DRO is particularly effective when shooting backlit portraits or any scene with a dramatic contrast between background and foreground lighting. DRO Plus allows for even greater optimization by analyzing each region of an image and performing additional image processing.

Red-eye Correction
Reduces common red-eye problems.

Convenient Photo Modes
Choose from 14 convenient photo modes to quickly adjust for specific shooting conditions. Photo modes include Auto, Program Auto, Easy Shooting, and Scene Selection such as Smile Shutter, High Sensitivity, Landscape, Soft Snap, Twilight Portrait, Twilight, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, Underwater and Gourmet Mode. Gourmet Mode lets you capture mouth-watering culinary creations with all the color and clarity of images you see in gourmet magazines.

9-Point Auto Focus
Because an off-centered subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto focus system measures nine precision focus points, giving you greater creative freedom to compose your images.

Burst Mode
You can fire up to 100 shots at approximately 0.57 second intervals (at any resolution; VGA to high resolution mode. Results may vary based on settings and Memory Stick media being used).

Function Guide
This beginner-friendly optional function helps navigate through the various functions and settings displaying the description of chosen functions or settings on the LCD screen.

Easy Shooting Mode

When my camera supplier first suggested I try the Sony Cybershot DSC-T90 as a still and video camera for my underwater shooting needs, I thought he had gone off his rocker.

Here we have a credit card sized, ultra-slim camera that can literally fit in my wallet. Then, there is the underwater housing which is only the size of your average pocket camera.

"What can this midget do for me?" ran through my subconscious.

"Try it," he said. "Then bring me back some video so that I can do some store promotion."

This was two years ago, he got his promotional DVD to show his customers and today I am still addicted to this tiny titan.

Every weekday I shoot underwater videos and stills professionally as a SCUBA diver. I have used over two dozen cameras underwater of different company names and models. When I say that this is the best camera I have ever used for instant action underwater scenarios...believe me!

It has the best automatic underwater white balancing for video and images that I have come across. Whatever magic Sony used, it accurately captures the vibrancy of underwater reds like no other. As any diver knows, the deeper you go, the less red is visible. This makes for interesting challenges as a manual red filter at 30 feet will not render the same red light recovery at 60, 90 or more feet under natural light conditions. (The underwater housing is good to a depth of 132 feet!) Changing filters underwater is impossible for most cameras and challenging, to say the least, for others. The 'Underwater Automatic White Balance' setting on the T90 seems to continually adapt to changing water conditions and renders reds as they should be.

It can zoom while shooting video making for very intriguing, original and unique scenes and angles to grab and hold the viewers attention. I can zoom-in to tight frame on a subject, like the eye of a fish and zoom-out without stopping my recording to set the surrounding scene.

How many cameras do you know of that can lock and hold focus on an object through 100 feet of water?

The Sony Cybershot DSC-T90 can do it.

It does so without focus wander or losing valuable time trying to lock on.

Another great advantage of the T90's slim profile is that I can carry several spares in my diving vest's (BCD) pockets and still have room for other diving accessories.

Why, you ask, would I want to have several cameras with me?

There are a number of reasons. With two compact T90 cameras on a rack mount, I can shoot HD video (1080x720) with one while simultaneously taking 12.1 MP stills with the other. Using several cameras I can also film multiple angles at once. (You cannot shout "Cut" to a fish and retake the scene.) Should batteries run low (video is a power hog) or I fill up a flash card, I can grab another fully-charged camera without having to surface! (This is a big deal for SCUBA divers.) Additionally, (Heaven forbid) I make a mistake and flood a housing, I do not have to end my dive and lose picture sales for the day.

Oh, yes...the camera gives me professional quality stills and videos by pressing just one button.

Not having to fiddle around with a bunch of buttons and settings is crucial underwater. Fish are always in motion and scare easily to boot. If I do not have to fiddle with controls it means that I can capture a unique scene instantly. Plus, less hand and finger movement means that I am less likely to startle the fish.

Did I mention that it is tiny? Very tiny. It is so tiny that fish rarely notice the camera. Anyone who has worked around fish know that they can get very uneasy about objects in a diver's hands. The bigger the object, the more likely a fish is to feel threatened. The T90 solves that problem by being almost unnoticeable. It is also small enough that it can be slipped inside crevices of coral without touching and damaging this delicate species.

You may wonder about light handling capabilities. Have no fear. Even with such a tiny lens and aperture opening, this camera manages to have excellent light gathering ability. I have used it underwater on cloudy days and at night without dive lights to capture the subtle glow of plankton and other bio-luminescent life.

The videos taken with this camera have allowed me to produce documentary DVDs, commercials and more. Post-editing videos to do color correction is an extremely time-consuming chore. I have rarely had to color correct T90 videos. With the sharpness of the imagery and the excellent contrast and color rendition, most people assume the videos were taken with a much larger and more expensive camera. They simply cannot believe me when I reach into my pocket and show them the T90.

I totally recommend this powerhouse little tyke to anyone who ventures into Neptune's realm.

I was looking for a new camera because my wife's old Canon Powershot had died (a 5 year old camera). She gets all my hand-me-downs so I gave her my other Canon Elf camera. This was a good camera but it had problems with the lense and its image stabilizing feature. You see, I ride roller coasters and put camera in my pocket sometimes and it had a easy power on button and would try and extend the lense and not be able to so it would jam. I had sent it back to the manufacturer twice in less then a year. So I was kind of glad I had to buy a new camera. I was thinking of the DSC-T900 but decided that the DSC-T90 was basically the same but cheaper (smaller display I think is all that is different for almost $100 more). I am still learning all the capabilities of this camera but it really surpassed my expectations. I like to take night shots of roller coasters and around amusement parks and it was GREAT at doing this when I set the ISO setting to max. It was great and very easy to use. Menus are very intuative. Love that it protects the lense with the cover and no lense getting extended. Plus it records video nicely and is 12.5 Mega Pixels. I am totally happy. I even showed a slideshow on the flat screen TV in my hotel room (including music supplied by the camera). My only complaint is that I probably only get about 40 to 50 shots on a charge. I also had a problem with the memory stick I purchased but I think it is a bad memory stick. I would suggest getting a backup battery and alwsys download your photos ASAP to a desktop or laptop to protect them from getting screwed up in the camera. I just love this camera so far.

Love my Sony cybershot... takes phenomenal pictures. Results are very crisp and clear pictures and easy to use too. Also very durable, I've had this camera for years now and it's still going like new.

I love it! However, I have two complaints. The first one is, I don't like the touch screen because finger prints show up immediately and they don't come off easily. The touch screen isn't sensitive so you really have to press hard on it & then it leaves this ugly finger print mark. So now I just use a hair pin to touch the screen. My second complaint is the camera seems sooo fragile. I use to have the old Sony cybershot & I compared the two in my hand, and the older one feels much more durable. I'm really nervous I am going to break this new one...let's see how long it lasts. I wish Sony would just make the cameras more durable.

This Sony Cybershot is a fabulous camera. I love the smile capture feature!!! I can't say enough good things about it!

this camera is awesome. I love it. it takes great pictures. so many different things you can do. buy it. you won't regret it.

I am so sorry to have purchased this camera. I have had 2 of these in the past (older models) and even purchased versions for my parents in the past, however, this one with the touch screen is absolutely terrible. The pictures are decent quality and the size is excellent however, the ability to take a photo and have it register or switch between photo and video is so slow and unresponsive that I miss many shots. Any time you need to switch any setting, you can forget the next 5 photos that you were going to take (flash to no flash, etc). I am sorry to see they made this camera ... it has always been a favorite and now, I suspect I will need to switch brands to be happy.

Great pictures! and features; moreover, the sony tech support is the fast and really helpful.
